Pets, Pets and More Pets!

Having animals in the home can definitely keep life interesting. Pets add liveliness to the house and provide companionship. In contrast, some choose only to have one. It is also not uncommon to have multiple. Having more than one animal around can be fulfilling and challenging, especially when dealing with different types of animals. Some days may even feel like you’re living in an actual zoo.

If you’re considering having more animals to hang out with, it’s essential to explore the ins and outs of how that would look.

We’ve got some pros and cons for you!

 Pros:

· Helps prevent loneliness in you and your pet – Multiple pets give a sense of companionship.

· Entertainment – watching different types of animals interact can be funny and, in general, fascinating to watch – you learn a lot about your pets’ personalities this way.

· Enhances development in your children - - pets help children learn responsibility as well as enhances emotional development.

· Decrease allergies in children - - studies have shown that children raised in homes with pets in the first year of their lives are less likely to develop certain types of allergies.

Cons:

· Multiple pets mean a significant cost increase – If you want to add a pet or two extra, counting the cost is essential.

· If you have multiple animals of the same species and age range, that could lead to difficult end-of-life decisions.

· Things could get a little crowded – this may especially be the case if dealing with multiple clingier animals or animals who need to live in larger cages.

· Time consumption – Multiple pets mean a lot more time for feeding, care, attention, keeping them active. Be prepared for that, knowing that animals also need interaction (some more than others).
