Keeping Your Home Clean With Pets

Having any kind of pet is almost a 100% guarantee that there will be many opportunities to clean. Keeping things clean around the house can become challenging between fur, food, potty accidents, and the occasional mischief. That's why it's important to develop a system to avoid lingering mess.

Here are six tips on how you can keep things neat at home with your pets:

1. Use Pet Hair Removal Products

There are several options to choose from when keeping pet hair off your furniture and personal items: lint rollers, a grooming glove, a grooming brush, a fur lifter, or a pet hand vacuum. You can also invest in a regular-sized vacuum with pet hair removal as one of its features.

2. Use Pet Odor Removers

Keep your house fresh and smelling clean with odor removers. You can choose from products for the floor, for fabric, and for all surfaces. It's even better if you find a product that is non-toxic and works for a variety of pet odors.

3. Set Up a Regular Cleaning Station

You can either use pet wipes, a paw cleaner or keep a towel nearby with a water spray bottle. If you have a dog running in and out of the house, for example, set up a spot near the door where you can wipe their paws after they come in. It's also best to set up doormats outside and inside the house to make sure the dirt and debris rub off the paws.

4. Use Mats Around the Food Bowls

Place a rimmed tray under the food bowl to catch the extra crumbs and nibbles that fly away while your pet is eating. You can also place a water-absorbing mat underneath the water bowl. Containing the mess before it spreads is key, and it makes for an easy clean-up when it's time to switch out the mats.

5. Wash the Pet Bedding Regularly

Treat your pet bedding just as you would your own bedding. Your pet's bed is not only a nest for their hair but also a place for pet dander and bacteria. To prevent infections and spreading the bacteria, wash the bedding once every two weeks or once a week if your pet is outside every day.

6.  Air out your home or use an air purifier.

Sometimes all it takes is letting up the windows regularly or running an air purifier consistently makes all the difference. Getting clean air circulating helps get rid of pet odors.
