Seasonal Allergies for Dogs

For some of us, allergies are on 100 about now – lots of coughing, sneezing, and sore throats. You may have even noticed your dog’s access itching around the home. We tend to think of fleas, but there could be another culprit. Seasonal allergies! Yes, dogs get them too. Here are some signs that your dog is struggling with allergies.

  1. Scratching/Biting 

  2. Excessive Paw Licking 

  3. Excessive Shedding 

  4. Chronic Ear Infections or Red, Waxy Ears 

  5. Difficulty Breathing, Coughing, Wheezing 

  6. Butt Scratches Across the Floor 

No worries, as with humans, allergies can make them a bit miserable at times but, allergy meds can soothe them. We highly recommend always consulting with your vet, especially if you can’t seem to bring them any comfort.

  • Allergy Tests 

  • Food Elimination 

  • Prescribed Medications and Shampoos 

Holistic Solutions:

  • Salmon Oils Omega 3s 

  • Oatmeal Bath and Natural Soaps 

  • Add Cooked Food, Fruits and Veggies 

  • Natural Wipes When Coming Inside the House

Don’t give your dog a decongestant or medicine containing Pseudoephedrine. It can be lethal.  Anti-itch creams and flea and tick prevention are also helpful preventive measures. Give them baths consistently.
